AS Media Studies: Remake/Remodel

Your task for next week…
1. Choose an existing music magazine. (I have put 5 Mastheads in a folder on MediaFire if you want to use them)
2. Create a front cover in the style of your choice of magazine.
3. Add codes and conventions (ALL).
4.You must use original photography for the main image.
5. The photography and text has to match the ‘ethos/philosophy’ of the magazine.
6. A full analysis MUST accompany your presentation (Codes & Conventions)

Create a 10 point questionnaire about how advertising affects you and your peers.(Use a mixture of open and closed questions)
E.g.-Where would you expect to see adverts?
Do you think that advertisers play on people’s fears and complexes? How?

AS Media Studies: Half-Term Work

You should already have the following on your blogs:
–IPC Media
–Image manipulation task
–Questionnaire/analysis of questionnaire
–Mock-up of contents page


For over half-term: go to MediaFire>AS Media Studies>Codes & Conventions

BEFORE the 5th.November upload to your blog:
  • Codes & Conventions Task (with accompanying analyses)
  • Final Front cover of school/6th. form magazine (Preliminary Task)
    Completed versions to be finished and uploaded to blogs. If you are working in a group, you have to do different versions but use the same ‘house style’.

There must be an accompanying evaluation of how you have constructed your front cover using codes and conventions. (Why you chose what you chose and for what reasons)

Also discuss the software that you used to construct your front cover.
