Y12 Media Studies: Framing and Angle Analysis



Look at the still from the film LEON:
1. What type of shot is it? (Think about both camera distance and angle.)
2. What parts of the image are emphasised by this framing?
3. The strongest shape in the image is that of the man's body. Does it follow a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line within the frame?
4. What effect does this have on the overall composition and balance? Why do you think this image was framed in this particular way? What was the film-maker trying to do?
